Simon Cowell will not appear as a weekly judge on the forthcoming series of the UK’s X Factor. ITV has confirmed that the 51 year-old has quit his judging role on the show to concentrate on the US launch instead. It had been hoped that the music mogul would split his time between the two, but it appears this won’t happen. ITV has said it is still in discussions with Cowell about him joining the talent competition later in the series. The US show is due to start screening in September, while the UK programme normally starts in August.
Simon Cowell recently had an interview and was asked who he was most proud of breaking and producing over the years. Without any hesitation, the music mogul and TV personality answered Leona Lewis. Simon said “I would say Leona Lewis. When I first met her, she auditioned on the X Factor. She was very shy and didn’t believe in herself and then turned into this fantastic artist by the end. So I guess Leona, because she’s the reason why we do these shows.” He also had some advice for aspiring kids, saying “I would say: Never listen to your parents. And work it out for yourself, who you want to be, and don’t be afraid to be different because this is a time now where being original or being different is paying off. And don’t be afraid of criticism, like the girl [Rebecca Black] who did that ‘Friday’ song, one of the most famous people in the world right now. Most people can’t stand her record but everyone’s talking about her.” I’m sure Rebecca’s thrilled at that.
According to reports, Simon Cowell has been selected to be knighted in 2011. The official list of knights-to-be comes out on December 31 and it looks like the snarky reality TV talent show judge’s fundraising efforts for Haiti helped get politicians to back him. When asked about his potential knighthood, Simon said “’Sir Simon’ has a nice ring to it.” I wonder what the next step could be for a knight. Do you think he deserves the honor or is it just some ploy to get people interested in more than just the impending royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton?
He finally gone and did it: he created a special award all for himself. With the Emmys coming up, Simon Cowell probably figured it wouldn’t be nice for him to be left out and all of a sudden he’s been scheduled to receive an award at the ceremony for all of his hard work in the star production industry and his activity with American Idol and America’s Got Talent. Well, truth be told, there’s nobody that can make’em like good old Simon Cowell… actually, there isn’t anybody else who does make them. So that would mean that Simon Cowell is in a competition with… no one. And yet he still gets the prize, doesn’t he?
X Factor is only one episode in and already it has major drama. On the heels of the auto tune controversy, the reality TV show’s bosses are debating losing one of their star contestants after they’ve learned that she already has a recording contract in the US. Apparently, Katie Waissel never told producers about her two-record deal on a jazz label. I think that’s grounds for axing. While we wait for her fate, Simon Cowell has addressed the auto tune controversy saying that performance-enhancing software will now be banned from all edited pre-recorded auditions. He’s obviously trying to preserve the show’s reputation for its transition to the US.
TV’s Mr Nasty Simon Cowell is becoming a fitness fanatic – ready for his upcoming wedding.
The music mogul, 50, has reportedly been getting into shape ready for his nuptials to fiancée and make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy.
His secret workout has been revealed by ex-girlfriend Sinitta, who said she thinks Cowell is getting in shape for his wedding.
The former pop star, who is still close to Cowell, said on Twitter: “Miracles will never cease! Guess who has finally also become a fitness fanatic? Not just the healthy eating but also the exercise now. Yep, Simon!”
It seems that the music master’s efforts have finally been rewarded… or at least that is soon to happen. Simon Cowell is to be knighted next month during Queen Elizabeth’s birthday. The proposal came from Prime Minister Gordon Brown, apparently due to Simon Cowell’s extensive charity work. This is what a source related on the matter: “Gordon Brown was very keen for Simon to get proper recognition for his work. He was particularly impressed by the way Simon responded to his suggestion to release the record for Haiti by dropping everything to ensure it was a success. And there’s no doubt Simon has brought as great deal of happiness to millions of people with his music and TV shows.” Indeed, the world just wouldn’t be the same without Simon Cowell… maybe they’ll make him an earl someday and then he can assume his proper title.
Once you have a child of your own, there’s just no time left to look after the other kids as well, is there? Since Simon Cowell is planning on starting his own little star factory in America in the form of The X Factor, he’s not only leaving American Idol for good, but also Britain’s Got Talent. This is what Simon Cowell sai on the matter: “I like the show, but it takes a hell of a lot of time and there are moments, I am not going to lie, where you are sitting there looking at these horrific acts and you actually think I genuinely can’t do this any more. But then you watch it back and you think it was all fun.” But business and pleasure should never be mixed, eh? So it’s goodbye Simon Cowell and hello new guy… but at the rate things are going, the American version of The X Factor is going to gain control of the entire star production business.
You wouldn’t believe who they are… maybe even the Earl of Exigency himself doesn’t believe it. Still, it does look like Simon Cowell’s wedding will be organized by his former girlfriends Sinitta and Jackie St. Claire. This is what a source said on the upcoming nuptials: “Jackie and Sinitta have taken it upon themselves to help out as wedding planners, coming up with loads of ideas for their big day. They have so many plans for the party afterwards and they want to make it better than his 50th party at Wrotham Park. God knows who they are going to get but it sure to be the wedding reception of the century.” With Simon Cowell it is probably going to be the wedding reception of time… doubtful he would agree to anything else, especially from two of his former girlfriends.
