This is most likely going to put a pause on the musical career… but not forever. Even though she didn’t get the job at the US X Factor, Jessica Simpson will be a mentor on the NBC reality series “Fashion Star”. This is what NBC’s executive vice president had to say about Jessica Simpson being on the show: “With an almost billion-dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers.” Well it certainly looks like the singer’s new bosses approve of her. Who needs Simon Cowell when you can have NBC?
Reality TV hit Jersey Shore kicked off its third season with record-breaking viewing figures of 8.4 million. The bumper audience for the return of Snooki, The Situation and JWoww is MTV’s highest rated series telecast ever. It easily beat the ratings for the season two premiere last year, which pulled in 5.1 million viewers. The show has already spawned one spin-off, with Pauly D landing his own series. MTV chiefs are already in talks with the cast for season four, which is set to return to Miami.

According to reports, Simon Cowell has been selected to be knighted in 2011. The official list of knights-to-be comes out on December 31 and it looks like the snarky reality TV talent show judge’s fundraising efforts for Haiti helped get politicians to back him. When asked about his potential knighthood, Simon said “’Sir Simon’ has a nice ring to it.” I wonder what the next step could be for a knight. Do you think he deserves the honor or is it just some ploy to get people interested in more than just the impending royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton?
More changes are on the way for the 10th season of American Idol and the reality TV talent show’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is sharing all of the details. He told TV Guide that there are three major changes for the 10th season. The first is that there will no longer be a top 24 round and the show will instead start with the top 12. Theme weeks will no longer center around particular artists or genres but will instead center around decades. Contestants will be able to enlist the help of Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine, the in-house mentor, for song selection. Also, the aspiring singers will make music videos, promote themselves and work with a band and dancers for a full production, similar to what you would see at an awards show. Are you curious as to how these changes will affect the show?

Tyler Perry showed off his DIY skills on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on US TV Sunday night.
The actor/producer helped rebuild a home of a couple who assists underprivileged children in a new episode that pulled at the heart strings.
The lucky beneficiaries of the makeover, the Tripp family, run The Fishing School, a youth development organisation that offers after school and summer programs for kids in Washington DC.
A science room, art room, technology spaces, classrooms and a kitchen were all newly installed in the home for the benefit of the kids who go there, and the final results moved the Tripp family and The Fishing School pioneer Mr Lewis to tears in emotional scenes.
Perry, 40, was so moved by Mr Lewis and the mission of the Fishing School that he announced on the show that he was going to form a foundation to support the school.
Perry, who has acting, directing, screenwriting, producer and author credits to his name, has starred in films such as Meet The Browns, Madea Goes To Jail and Star Trek.
Perry’s films are said to have earned him nearly $400million worldwide.

Kate Gosselin claims Jon Gosselin took $200,000 without her permission from a joint bank account, leaving $1,000.
The claim, put forward by her attorney Marty Singer, comes in the midst of Jon’s wrangling with the makers of the family reality TV show that put the couple – and their eight children – on the map. TLC was just about to launch a new version of the show that was to be Kate’s show when Jon pulled the plug on the filming of his kids.
Singer says a court has ordered the Gosselins not to withdraw significant sums from their joint accounts while their divorce is pending. Of an e-mail sent to Jon’s attorney, Singer said: “They have not responded. I’m sure he will respond by going on another TV show.”
Singer said Kate’s family law attorney is likely to go to court on Monday morning over the matter in Pennsylvania, where the couple filed for divorce.
