Newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton have already made a new addition to their family by adopting a baby penguin. Given as a wedding present, the little Humbolt penguin called Acorn lives at Chester Zoo in England. The animal will remain with the other penguins but staff at Chester Zoo are hoping the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they are now officially known, will come and visit him. “Hopefully the happy couple will come and see little Acorn playing in his pool very soon,” a zoo spokesman told Us Magazine. “It’s a real honour to be able to boast Prince William and Kate as penguin adopters.”

Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has admitted she disapproves of royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton’s style. Westwood, 69, was recently in Los Angeles to open her new shop and gave her opinion to The Insider.com about Prince William’s future wife. When asked what kind of wedding dress she would design for Middleton, 29, Westwood said: “Well it would very much depend on her, she doesn’t seem to be very adventurous at the moment. “Hopefully she’ll take the opportunity of being young and good looking and do something about it one day.”

Britain’s most-watched couple Prince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly made a discreet visit to Westminster Abbey to sort out the musical arrangements for their wedding. William, 28, and Kate, 29, arrived at the chapel set to serve as the backdrop to their April 29 nuptials on Monday night. When they were inside they are said to have sat in a pew a few rows from the altar while an orchestra and a boy’s choir rehearsed. A royal source told British newspaper the Daily Express that the couple were advised by Prince Charles about what music to have at their wedding.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to be given a marriage bed made by social enterprise factory Glencraft. The royal pair will marry at Westminster Abbey on April 29 and it’s claimed that a number of people in the factory that are blind and disabled will make the bed and it will be sent to Balmoral. The company has previously made furniture for Balmoral Castle and has been given a royal warrant. Andrew Laing, from Glencraft, said: “As an organisation, we decided we’d like to give the royal couple a gift to celebrate the occasion. “Buckingham Palace have indicated they would be willing to accept something from us, and we’re delighted.”

Jemima Khan’s pals believe she has been left off the royal wedding invitation list because of her comments about Kate Middleton’s figure. The 37-year-old was a good friend of William’s mother Princess Diana but she made a comment on her Twitter page saying: “Kate Middleton – those are not heir-bearing hips, are they? Unfeasibly narrow.” Friends now claim the message, which she claims was a compliment, is the reason why she was not invited to the wedding. A source told UK newspaper the Daily Mirror: “Apparently, Jemima is friendly with the princes and would otherwise have confidently expected an invitation.” Khan later retracted the comment and said: “I wasn’t being unkind. Wouldn’t every girl like to have unfeasibly narrow hips? Who wants to be described as having child-bearing ones?”

A British creative agency has unveiled its new range of “unofficial” Wills & Kate Royal wedding souvenir plates. KK Outlet in London decided to create some of its own souvenir plates for the more design-conscious fans of British royalty despite Lord Chamberlain, the Earl Peel, already issuing a formal memorandum on souvenirs including a strict “no tea-towels” rule. The company enlisted the help of seven designers to bring Royal wedding memorabilia bang up to date to suit a very modern royal wedding. The new range of souvenir plates include Ute Geisler’s Like plate, the ironically youthful Will 4 Kate 4 Eva by Emma Morton [pictured], who also designed the headline-grabbing Age Of Austerity paper plate, and the just plain strange Laser Eyes by Richard Walker. Other designers who have contributed to the plates include Dave Bell, Paul Best, Keith Gray and Angela Lidderdale. A spokesman for KK Outlet said: “Every royal wedding from Fergie and Andy to Charles and Diana comes with its own peculiar side-business memorabilia. They usually take the form of plates, mugs, teaspoons, gravy boats or other household paraphernalia. “The designs and forms have hardly altered since 1952. But as the Royals have changed with the times, so should memorabilia. With that in mind, KK Outlet asked the question How should royal wedding memorabilia look for the Facebook generation?” The sets of plates and mugs are slated to be sold at KK Outlet’s store in London and on its website in the lead-up to the Royal Wedding in April. Royal fans can log on to www.kkoutlet.com to purchase the fun plates.

Prince Charles is to be the subject of a US TV movie called Harmony, according to recent reports.

The film – which is to air on the NBC network in November – is about the Prince of Wales’s environmental work.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the documentary will be about the heir to the British throne and his view that people no longer know how to live in harmony with the natural world.

Paul Telegdy, the head of alternative programming at NBC, says in the past Prince Charles was mocked as the “tree-hugging prince”.

He says: “I always thought of him as one of the leading environmental activists on the planet.”

The film also includes clips from an interview Prince Charles did in 1988 with fellow environmentalist, and former US vice president, Al Gore.
