Ben Affleck has stepped in himself to play the lead role in his new movie Argo. The 38-year-old actor is directing the new film himself and will now be playing the lead role of Tony Mendez, a CIA exfiltration expert who puts together a fake Hollywood production to get six Americans out of Iran. According to Variety, Alan Arkin and John Goodman are also in talks to star in the new movie. The film is being produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov along with David Klawans. The script has been adapted by Chris Terrio from the 2007 Wired magazine article called ‘How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue American from Tehran’.
Larry Crowne star Tom Hanks has revealed that a Toy Story 4 movie is already in the works. The 54-year-old actor has voiced the role of Woody in all three of the Disney Pixar movies and was asked about the possibility of a fourth movie. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, he said: “I think there will be. Yeah I think they’re working on it now. There you go!” Hanks became a grandfather for the first time earlier this year when his son Colin’s wife Samantha gave birth to a little girl called Olivia. Asked what impact that has had on him, he said: “When babies are only four or five months old they’re much better than anything on television. Every moment that we spend with her… it’s better than TV!”
Actor Chris Noth has revealed that he’s not holding out much hope for Sex And The City 3. Noth, who played Mr Big in the US TV series and also in the two movie adaptations, admitted that he doesn’t think a third film is likely. According to OK! Magazine, he told reporters at the Samsung for Hope Children Gala in New York: “I don’t think they’ll do another one because they got hurt very badly by it.” He added: “I think we got skewered, although I’ll tell you what, were we really that bad? Were we that bad? I thought a lot of the reviews were actually personal, derogatory and in bad taste. “It was only a movie for godsakes! Was it really that much worse than Hangover 2? I mean, come on! Really. “They made like we had killed somebody’s mother making that movie. I don’t think there will be another one.”
Actor Bill Nighy is said to be negotiating a role in the new Total Recall remake. The British star could be starring opposite Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel in the new movie from director Len Wiseman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is based on the 1990 movie that saw Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. In the new version, the Martian element has been taken out and involves the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai. Farrell will be taking on the role of factory worker Douglas Quaid who starts thinking he is a spy.
True Grit star Jeff Bridges has signed on to join Ryan Reynolds in new supernatural lawman movie R.I.P.D. The 61-year-old actor will star alongside Ryan, 34, in the Robert Schwentke directed film based on a comic about a group of dead law enforcers trying to keep other dead people from a life of crime. The Oscar-winning star will play character Roy Powell, a gunslinger who has been dead for hundreds of years, while Reynolds will star as his partner Nick Cruz, a policeman who was recently murdered. Filming for the movie is set to begin in Boston in September, Variety.com reports.
Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she was left physically scarred by her mutant costume for X Men: First Class. The 20-year-old had to endure an eight-hour process – which involved being be shaved, rubbed down with alcohol, coated with five layers of paint and topped with silicone scales – to transform her in to blue-skinned mutant Mystique. She told The Telegraph, “I got tired just thinking about it. It was a long process. I have scars.” But despite the lasting marks that it left on her skin, she insisted that the film was ‘a very cool thing to be a part of’. “It was mostly just fun. I don’t remember us working, I just remember us cracking up on set,” she said.
Johnny Depp has described playing pirate Captain Jack Sparrow as being a ‘psychedelic’ experience. The 47-year-old actor, who has reprised his role in new movie Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, said that playing a character that is loved by so many has been an honour. Talking to Screen Crave, he explained, “It’s pretty psychedelic, actually. Yeah, I supposed you could make it even more psychedelic but we probably shouldn’t go into that now but, yeah, the idea of wondering through this ride and suddenly there you are three times. “It’s quite an honour in a weird way. It’s a great honour. Some sort of thing that you took part in creating becomes this forever sort of object.”
Bones star David Boreanaz is set to star in indie drama Officer Down during his hiatus from the show. The 41-year-old is known for his role as Special Agent Seeley Booth on the Fox show Bones and he has confirmed he will reprise the role when the show returns for a seventh season. According to Deadline, the actor will be starring in the new film by Brian A. Miller and he will star opposite Stephen Dorff, Dominic Purcell, Stephen Lang, James Woods and AnnaLynne McCord. The script for the new drama has been written by John Chase and it follows a doctor and a security guard. When the pair dream, they see what the other person did during that day and they meet when the security guard murders his wife and is then brought into the doctor’s emergency room after being hit by a car. Boreanaz and Dorff will take on the roles of two cops. Filming begins in Connecticut this month.
Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth is the new front-runner for the lead male role in Snow White and the Huntsman, according to reports. The Thor star would join Kristen Stewart, who is set to play Snow White, and Charlize Theron, who will star as the Evil Queen, in the Snow White adaptation. According to US website Gossip Cop, Hemsworth, 27, is the studio’s current top choice to play the huntsman in the Rupert Sanders-directed flick. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Model Daisy Lowe has been receiving lessons from her actor boyfriend Matt Smith as she wants to be a Bond girl. The 21-year-old British model has reportedly been acting out scenes with her Doctor Who star other half as he shows her the ropes. A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: “Being on screen is Daisy’s next big challenge. She’s wanted to do it for a while but only felt ready recently. Her dream job is to be a Bond girl because it’s sexy and not too serious. “Like a lot of girls, she’s always dreamed of being one. She and Matt are big collectors of vintage books, which has inspired their role play.”
