Simon Cowell recently had an interview and was asked who he was most proud of breaking and producing over the years. Without any hesitation, the music mogul and TV personality answered Leona Lewis. Simon said “I would say Leona Lewis. When I first met her, she auditioned on the X Factor. She was very shy and didn’t believe in herself and then turned into this fantastic artist by the end. So I guess Leona, because she’s the reason why we do these shows.” He also had some advice for aspiring kids, saying “I would say: Never listen to your parents. And work it out for yourself, who you want to be, and don’t be afraid to be different because this is a time now where being original or being different is paying off. And don’t be afraid of criticism, like the girl [Rebecca Black] who did that ‘Friday’ song, one of the most famous people in the world right now. Most people can’t stand her record but everyone’s talking about her.” I’m sure Rebecca’s thrilled at that.
It seems that if you work for Leona Lewis you are bound to get a lot of perks for the job. The singer recently had a night out with her staff after her performance at the O2 Arena and she apparently treated them to ten thousand dollars worth of drinks. This is what a source said on the matter: “Leona likes to have the odd glass of champagne but she’s not a massive drinker. But it was the first time she’s headlined the O2 and, as London girl, she had all her family and friends out and wanted to celebrate properly.” Ok, so it does help if Leona Lewis’ family and friends are there too, but it’s still a pretty good perk.
No, no… don’t think that her lip-synching got desynchronized… no, Leona Lewis’ latest little accident had nothing to do with her own skills per say, but rather the props. The singer related the following about it: “I was singing in front of some wind machines when my dress just blew up! I was only wearing a little pair of knickers, so it was really embarrassing. The wind machines were meant to be blowing my hair, so how did it get up my dress? I was like, ‘Are you doing that on purpose?’ Everyone pretended they didn’t see, but I know they did.” She should probably be grateful it wasn’t one of those days when she decided not to wear anything at all. Then Leona Lewis might just have had a small faint.
After being apprehended due to punching Leona Lewis at her book signing event, her attacker has been identified as being a certain Peter Kowalczyk. Well, that might not be very revealing as to why he attacked Leona Lewis, but the following fact is: it seems the man wasn’t able to get on the same X Factor that brought Leona Lewis where she is today and he felt that it was all her fault. Truly it is so… I mean, nobody would think of blaming the socially destructive power these so-called “talent shows” have… or Simon Cowell for that matter as being the single and foremost grand puppeteer.
It was announced that Leona Lewis would be coming out with an autobiography even though she is only 23, and now the buzz is that she will be designing a vegan clothing line and a perfume.
Says an insider:
“Leona has had a lot of approaches about launching her own perfume, but she wanted to make totally sure she would be working with an ethical company. She has had a big hand in helping to create the fragrance and the design of the bottle and now she can’t wait to see it in the shops.”
Leona Lewis has a brand new blog and she made an entry to fill her fans in on what’s been happening with her lately. Here’s what she had to say:
“Hey guys, Happy Christmas, I hope you all had a nice time. I ate far too much, played lots of board games and watched old movies, it was brilliant!
“So I just got back from New York where I sang at the Jingle Bell Ball in Madison Square Gardens, wow!! I have always wanted to play there! I caught up with the lovely Natasha Bedingfield and gorgeous Rihanna, we collected a check for ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ for $15,000!
“I also sang ‘I Will Be’ on Letterman which was a treat for me and then I shot the video for the song in the same week. I can’t wait for you to see it, it’s so different from my previous videos. I got to shoot again with one of my favorite directors, Melina [Matsoukas] who I luv and I’m really proud of what we’ve created. I also got to work with Chace Crawford, who is one of the nicest people I’ve met, super talented and he’s in one of my new fave series’ Gossip Girl.
“So it’s been an eventful year and looking back I really cannot believe the incredible things that have happened to me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world and I am truly thankful for all of the achievements I have been able to attain with your amazing support, thank u so much. Hope you have a wonderful new year! Lots of love always, Leona-x-”
She seems sweet and genuine. A down to earth kind of girl… which is nice!
Mika was just named “Man Of the Year” by the Sunday Observer magazine.
“When I come back I won’t come back apologetically. It’ll be another pop album,” he tells the mag. “And it’ll be a hurricane.”
‘Grace Kelly’ was the second single to reach No. 1 on downloads alone and was on its way to be 2007’s best selling single until the launch of Leon Lewis’s ‘Bleeding Love.’

To date he’s sold four million copies worldwide of his debut album,’ Life in Cartoon Motion,’ and splashed the airwaves with a style all his own on the classic pop tradition. The past 12 months started off with him selling just six tickets for a Glasgow gig and ended with a sold-out theatre tour!
Leona Lewis strikes a golden pose at the Cosmo Fun Fearless Female Awards in London on Tuesday.
The Bleeding Love singer was given an award for the Newcomer of the Year award . Go girl! She’s a talented girl and so deserves it.
Congratulations!

Simon, Cowell who is Leona Lewi’s manager, insists her reputation as a good girl is the real deal. When asked about her image, he told BANG Showbiz: “She really is that sweet. Leona is too good to ever turn bad. She should hang out with me more!”
Simon likes to live on the dark side, so hopefully she won’t take him up on his offer! He can be so sarcastic at times, it is a nice change to hear him be so encouraging of a new talent.
He went on to compare his protégé to Whitney Houston when he said: “Leona is definitely as good as Whitney Houston is now. Leona was amazing on ‘X Factor’, but I was worried her voice wouldn’t come over as well on a record. But she sounds even better on her new album.”
Leona’s new single ‘Bleeding Love’ has become the fastest selling record in the UK this year.
