Richard Gere looked anything but a typical American tourist in his sarong when he visited the Borobudur Temple in Bali, Indonesia, with his family. The Pretty Woman star, now 61, visited the ancient landmark with his wife, Carey Lowell, 50, and their son, Horner, 11. Inside, according to local reports, he took time out to meditate during a visit lasting at least three hours. As Richard was being guided around the temple with a Buddhist monk, he asked waiting media to calm down and be respectful. He made a prayer gesture and told the media, “Shhh, thank you all very much but you are going to be asked to leave now.” The actor and his wife are both practicing Tibetan Buddhists and chose to be in Bali for the Dalai Lama’s birthday, which is July 6. He and his family are staying at a five-star resort on the island.
Actress Denise Richards’ recent adoption was reportedly inspired by her mother’s death in 2007. The US star recently became a mother for the third time when she adopted a baby girl called Eloise Joni, who she named after her mother Joni. Richards also has two older daughters – Sam, seven, and Lola, six – with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. A friend of the star told PopEater: “Denise has wanted to adopt for a long time and this was something she talked about with her mum before she passed away. “She wanted to wait to start the process until things were calm with her custody of her two daughters she has with Charlie, and mourning her mum.” The friend added: “She’s got the biggest heart in the world and plenty of love to share. She learned from her own mum how to be such [a] great parent. “Family is more important to her than anything. Sam and Lola are the best big sisters in the world, so Eloise is one lucky little lady.”
Katie Holmes says she learned the hard way to pay attention in Cruise household ‘family meetings.’ The actress, 32, told chat show host Jimmy Kimmell that she’s now all ears during the family huddles. “One time we decided to do some hiking in Colorado — so we had a meeting before our hike,” she said. “We were hiking four peaks and I was on my Blackberry not paying attention. “I thought it was going to be a long one but that’s all I was listening to.” Katie said she hadn’t realised hubby Tom Cruise’s idea of a hike was quite different from her own. “Our guides pulled out these harnesses and I was like, ‘I have to put this on? Are we doing down the side of a mountain?’ “I made my husband go in front of me because a harness doesn’t look good on anyone. “So from now on I pay attention in our meetings.” Joked Kimmell, “I can’t believe you have meetings. In our house we never had meetings in any form — there was never a meeting!”
Actor David Arquette has said he is working on his relationship with ex Courteney Cox. The pair, who split in October 2010, reunited during the recent junket for their upcoming film Scream 4. Cox, 46, and Arquette, 39, joked, shared a hug and even exchanged interview seats while discussing the fourth installment of the movie series. David told ETOnline.com: “We’re separated, we’re working on ourselves and our relationship, and sort of figuring out what we want. You know, life’s complicated and people go through changes. And I’ve been reading a lot of things about myself, reading books that talk about feelings and changes, and she’s been working on herself a lot too. “The great thing is that we really love each other and that we’re really amazing parents together, very supportive – I’m her biggest fan and she’s my biggest fan. You know, that’s what it’s all about really.” Courteney added: “It was very easy, we really respect each other and we help each other. I mean, I respect his opinion so much that I’m always asking him ‘What do you think.’ I think it’s very easy, it’s very, very easy to work with him.” Arquette says that being on the set with the star makes him a better actor. He added: “I really love acting with Courteney. I always have fun. It’s always, you know, we’re really loose and it’s easy to feel real, like they’re real moments. That’s my favourite part about acting, when you connect with something where it feels like, you know, you can actually believe it inside.” Scream 4 hits cinemas in the US on April 15.
Actress Angelina Jolie is reportedly set to add a little girl from Haiti to her growing family, according to a UK report. The 35-year-old star already has three adopted children as well as three biological children with her long-time partner Brad Pitt. British newspaper Daily Mirror is now reporting that the pair are about to adopt Leah, a four-year-old little girl from Haiti who was orphaned when her family were killed in the earthquakes that hit the country last year. Jolie reportedly met the little girl in February last year and she has been in close contact with officials ever since. Leah has now allegedly been granted permission to make her first trip to the US. A source said to the newspaper: “Angelina’s lawyers are in the process of getting an authorisation so Leah can spend some time with her in America. That’s standard procedure, basically they need to make sure Leah will adapt well. “A lot of observers from groups such as the Red Cross are ensuring that Angelina is treated like anybody else and not fast-tracked, which would be viewed invidiously.”
Rumer Willis has admitted that she uses Twitter to help control her public appearance. The 22-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, who stars in 90210, said that the social networking site gives her an outlet to defend herself against gossip. She told Prestige, “Everyone has an opinion, and if they say something negative, you can’t defend yourself because any response in itself is enough to validate the claim. “But that’s the great thing about outlets like Twitter because, more and more, we’re getting control of our image. We can be in direct contact with the world and people can at least choose between second-hand and the direct information. “You have to be a little more aware of how you present yourself in public places. I mean, I can’t walk into Starbucks anymore in my pyjama pants.”

I feel that comfort.”
