Elle Fanning has revealed that it is her lifetime ambition to be directed by Steven Spielberg. The 13-year-old actress said that she wants to follow her big sister Dakota – who starred in Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds – by working under the iconic movie mogul. She told Digital Spy, “I’d love to be directed by Steven. My sister was in War Of The Worlds and he directed that. That would be fun for me to do something like that as well.” Her idol recently served as producer on Elle’s latest movie, Super 8, where she said he became a mentor for her co-star JJ Abrams. “JJ looked up to him so much. Steven was really involved and JJ, you always see him thinking about the details,” she said. “When you see the bedroom of the characters in the movie, you see all the posters on their wall and that’s such a unique touch to things. I think JJ knew how to do that because he was actually one of those kids.”

Legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor has died this morning of congestive heart failure at the age of 79. A statement from her publicist said Taylor died ‘peacefully today in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles’. She was hospitalised six weeks ago with congestive heart failure, ‘a condition with which she had struggled for many years. Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be.’ The English-American star, considered one of the great actresses of Hollywood’s golden age, was surrounded by her children: Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton. According to ABC News, Taylor’s son, Michael Wilding, released this statement: “We will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. “My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humour, and love.” He added: “Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mum having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.”

Jenny McCarthy admits she had doubts during her five-year relationship with Jim Carrey despite being deeply in love. The actress and former Playboy pin-up spoke to Oprah Winfrey about their breakup for the first time. She claimed she had no regrets but admitted she never sold her own house after moving in with the funnyman. “Those moments where you saw us together, was it love? You’re damned right it was,” she said. “The problem is there wasn’t a photographer when the times were rough.” McCarthy said she held onto a gut feeling that they would not be a couple forever. “I would say I maybe had a little bit of an internal knowing because I kept my house. I never sold it when I did move in to Jim’s house.” McCarthy, 37, who has an eight-year-old son Evan with ex-husband John Asher, split from 48-year-old Carrey in April this year after dating for five years. She told chat show host Oprah Winfrey how they began questioning their romance after the fun element disappeared.

A last-ditch attempt by the mother of Ashley Cole to thaw Cheryl Cole’s resolve has failed, the UK Mirror reports.

Cheryl, who has officially separated from the star footballer, would not be moved by the overtures of her mother-in-law Sue.

A source close to Cheryl said: “Sue has been trying to act as intermediary between Cheryl and Ashley, and doing her best to help them patch up their differences. She loves Cheryl and obviously hates seeing her son hurt.”

Ashley was reported last week making desperate phone calls to his wife, who had dumped him in a text message after revelations of his alleged sex-texting surfaced. Initially, Cheryl was unable to take calls – even from her mother-in-law – and was reported starving herself on a diet of peppermint tea.

The source continued: “But they finally spoke and Cheryl made clear there is no going back. The marriage is over and she can’t take him back. They spoke calmly and fondly to one another and there was certainly no screaming or shouting.”

Paris Hilton and her man Doug Reinhardt are vacationing in Amsterdam, Netherlands and she just made a recent entry on her blog to inform all those who care about her comings and goings about her new official Twitter. the [sics] are all her typos just fyi!

She writes:

Miley Cyrus’s new Hannah Montana movie opened in theaters all through the U.S. this weekend and raked in $34 million at the box office, easily putting it at #1.

This fantastic opening makes it the 2nd biggest Easter opening of all time, behind the $40.2 million take of Scary Movie 4 in 2006.

Congratulations Miley, she’s obviously doing something right. It’s a very entertaining movie, the kids love it.

She’s back on the prowl as TMZ is reporting that SaMan changed the locks on her home over the weekend, their photographers took photos of the locksmith, and Lindsay herself just gave this statement to E! News:

Lindsay tells E! News that she has confirmed that she has split up with SaMan. For those of you who follow her Twittering, you’ll most likely know about how upset she was! Here is her brief little statement:

“We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.”

Wonder if what went down on the weekend has anything to do with this little time-out…

Lindsay was not invited to the launching of SaMan’s sister, Charlotte Ronson’s new fashion line with JC Penney over the weekend. Lindsay had to be escorted out of the building by security as SaMan left instructions she was not to be let in.

Sources told OK Magazine Linds even knew she wasn’t supposed to go, but tried anyways to get in and ended up being “restrained from coming in by five security guards.”

Actress and musician Zooey Deschanel is fed up of people confusing her for Katy Perry. She’s at the point now where the continuing case of being mistaken for her look-alike has reached its limit.

She had this to say:

“It’s a little bit annoying, to be totally blunt. The only similarity that we have is that we look a bit alike. I used to get, ‘I heard you were out at such-and-such club drinking whiskey!’ [when] I was at home watching TV,” joked Deschanel.

“I think we lead very different lives. At some point I feel like this will stop being a thing. I like the way my life goes. It’s sort of strange to be associated with someone that’s doing such different stuff than me. It’s weird.”

I’m surprised she doesn’t consider it a compliment that some people would mistake her for a wild child like Katy Perry! She’s recently become engaged so maybe that’s why she has a problem with it. Katy does like to party like a rock star.

Zooey Deschanel also has talent, lots of it, actually. Her album with She & Him was very well-received by critics, while Katy’s ended up on a number of worst album of the year lists.

She & Him was also named album of the year by a well-respected music magazine as well. So maybe that’s why she’s offended.

Never thought I’d see the day when Posh would be caught out in public wearing thongs, yet that day has come. Check out her sensibly stylish flats!

That being said, upon closer inspection, her feet really are not posh. She has a major bunion, which must be painful, and her pinky toes seem to be the kind that don’t have much of a nail to paint.

Seeing her without heels… she really is petite, I wonder if she is enjoying knowing now what it feels like to have her feet ALL touch the ground at the same time.

Chris Brown who has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged assault of Rihanna last month is the topic of more gossip.

The latest word is that it was Natasha Ellie who sent the three-page text message the one initially reported to be from someone who Chris “had a previous sexual relationship with.” When Rihanna checked his phone, that’s what started the argument during which Chris allegedly punched, bit and choked her until she was unconscious.

A source said:

“Rihanna has been having problems with this girl for a longtime. Rihanna even reached out to Natasha, but she denied everything. Have you heard the song ‘Emergency Room’ by Rihanna? In the lyrics she mentions finding Natasha’s number in Chris’ jeans. Rihanna didn’t write the song, but she met with the songwriter and told her how she felt and what she was going
though and they came up with it.”

‘Emergency Room’ includes the lyrics:

“I was pickin’ up your clothes in the
closet/ I was bout’ to throw your jeans in the washer/ ‘Til I saw a piece of

Natasha lives in L.A. She has worked as a runway model and also

Natasha’s rep has denied the model had a relationship with Chris, but did confirm they met in Miami two years ago.
