Ashlee and hubby Pete were the guests of honor at the Bel-Air Hotel’s Palm Room yesterday. A baby shower was held for them by big sister Jessica and mom Tina. According to Star magazine, the shindig was co-ed and there were about 40 guests.

The appetizers included: crabcakes, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, jicama salad with grapefruit and a bumble bee-shaped cake. An insider who was a guest at the party told the magazine:

“The room was decorated with yellow and orange roses, and guests were given jars of honey with custom-made labels that said ‘Baby Wentz’ and ‘Thank You For Celebrating My Life’ on them.”

The guest went on to add:

“The girls were also given bracelets that had a big bumble bee on them.”

The place must have been ‘buzzing’ with excitement!

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s baby will be arriving soon, and they are happily setting up the nursery making sure they have all the necessary essentials. A friend told Life & Style:

“She’s having a last-minute baby shower tomorrow, The location is top secret. They’ll send out an e-mail to all invited guests early Saturday morning. She was eyeing the Bel-Air Hotel in LA — but no one will know exactly until tomorrow morning. This could be the last chance for everyone to see Ashlee before she becomes a mom.”

Rather interesting… if it’s supposed to be top secret, why tell a magazine that it’s on and what day? Why not ‘leak the tidbit of news’ after the shower is over? Makes me wonder about these so called ‘friends, insiders, unnamed sources’ telling secrets for money … !

Excited daddy to be, Pete recently told Ryan Seacrest:

“I am on call permanently right now. She’s at the very end, and it could happen at any point.”

Gwen Stefani went to an early Halloween party this past Saturday night dressed up as an egg — prepared sunny side up. Kind of inventive, ‘cracked’ me up! Her hubby Gavin Rossdale dressed up as a slice of bacon. Here he is using his costume to cover up baby Zuma from the paps on their way home.

Earlier in the afternoon Gavin performed at the VH1 Save The Music fundraiser which was held at the Esquire house in Beverly Hills.

Sean “Diddy” Combs strikes a pose with his twin girls, D’Lila Star and Jessie James for the October cover of L’Uomo Vogue’s music issue. His daughters will turn 2 years old in December and they are adorable. The man has his own fashion line. Why didn’t he design something for his baby girls to wear other than bow ties? What look did he think he was going for here? Generally speaking, nakedness donning just a bowtie = SEXY photo. Baby girls don’t wear bow ties. The whole premise behind this photo is for it to say “Sexy” which is not appropriate with babies. If he wanted to convey “Dads can be sexy too” … he missed the mark in my opinion.

Diddy sat down to be interviewed for the cover story and he shared his thoughts about the upcoming presidential election, and how important it is to vote. He also chats about his many successful businesses and the evolution of inspiration in creating music.

Diddy said:

“The concept of ‘Black on Black’ in this story represents a level of strength, a level of beauty, a level of sexy and chic that I really want to portray. It’s the future. And it’s not just a race thing; it’s almost a redefinition of the color. Think about how ignorant people actually make the color black represent something negative. Black is so beautiful, I see it in everything I am, as a person, as a man, as a fashion professional. Black is beautiful.”

I’m just wondering why his other child isn’t on the cover?

Christina’s performance in Britain will be her first major performance since giving birth to her baby son Max. She’ll be the opening act for Thisday Africa Rising Festival and she intends to do what she does best, she says:

“It is important to show Max what mommy does. It is really important to me is that he is an individual and that’s why it is important for me to stay true to myself. If it happens to be raunchy so be it! It’s a matter of self expression to me”.

I just don’t see her singing “Dirty” the same way she used to… though if she does, it should be interesting.

Soul legend, Seal will also serenade the crowd with some of his best songs.

Lisa Marie Presley gave birth to twin girls on Friday, reports Star.

The 40-year-old daughter and heir of Elvis Presley Lisa Marie gave birth to twin daughters with her 47-year-old musician hubby Michael Lockwood at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Lisa Marie’s two older children, Riley, 21, and Ben, 16, from her first marriage to Danny Keough, were also there to welcome the twins’ arrival.

“Lisa Marie is a mom to four kids now! She’s feeling good, a little tired too,” a family friend reveals. “She is so happy and Michael is ecstatic. He’s wanted to be a dad for so long. This is his dream come true…. The babies are healthy and beautiful. Ben was seen pushing them down the hall in their cart and cooing to them.”

Congratulations to them! She went through so much negative press about the size of her baby bump, I really felt sorry for her. When she wrote on her blog that she was carrying twins, what a double blessing.

Former American Idol contestant Paris Bennett delivered a baby girl today in Minneapolis.

The new mom who is 20-year-old and was a season five contestant was in labor for five hours before giving birth at 3:36 PM (CST) to a 5 pounds 15 ounces little girl. She named her new bundle of joy Egypt.

Paris says:

“I’m so excited to finally see my little angel and man does she have lungs on her I guess she’s gearing up to be the next American Idol.”

Paris’ rep said: “The proud first time mother is doing well and recovering. Paris’ mother Jamecia Bennett and her family is filled with excitement and welcomes their bundle of joy.”

Her first Christmas CD, “A Royal Christmas” will be released on October 14.

Lopez sat down for an interview with Elle magazine for their October issue. She had lots to talk about as she looked back on the magical experience of becoming pregnant and the life-changing experience she wanted to fully enjoy. She made an important decision after she finished her concert tour with husband Marc Anthony last fall when she told him she needed him to step up and take over:

“I said, ‘I did the superwoman thing, I finished the tour – now I need you to take care of me,

“‘I love doing things for you; if I’m not cooking, then I’m picking out a shirt. But this is the first time in my life where I’m just going to be a little bit selfish,’” she told Anthony. “‘I don’t know if I’m going to have kids again, so I want it to be a beautiful experience. I don’t want to have any drama. I want to just be smiling every day.’”

JLo is currently in training for her first triathalon, told that neither of them worried during the four years of their marriage that she didn’t get pregnant:

“We knew nothing was wrong with either one of us – I had been checked, and he had kids already,” she told Elle. “I knew [that] something’s not ready here, in my head or in my life, and when it is, I know it’s going to happen.”

She describes the magical moment that she realized she was indeed pregnant:

“I was sitting down doing hair and makeup and I felt a flutter. The weirdest little … flourish. My makeup artist said ‘What’s the matter?’ I didn’t say anything, but in my head, I was like, I have life inside me!”

To commemorate the experience of being pregnant Lopez commissioned a special gift for her hubby– a book of photos of herself. She says:

“I was like, ‘How am I going to rock this moment of my life? … I felt very womanly. Marc was in a dream. He loved it.”

The babies are now 6 months old. Time sure has flown by! She seems happy and content and still in love with him… so he must be doing a fine job as husband and father. Good on him!

Oh my, how embarrassing. Ricky Martin’s babies’ surrogate mama is a serial surrogate — but she is choosy on which clients she works for. Guess she likes livin’ la vida loca since he was special enough to be selected to rent her womb.

She is apparently a 26-year-old mother who works for an agency that hooks up surrogates with clients and Ricky’s twins are her third surrogate (and second set of twins) and get this… she says her womb isn’t open to Britney Spears or Michael Jackson. No surprise there …

TMZ is reporting that they were told that Ricki and the woman only met a couple of times, and contact between them was mostly through phone and email.

Gwen and her husband welcomed their second child, another baby boy they named Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. Now that is a mouthful and quite the change in stature from their first son’s name “Kingston”

Isn’t Zuma a girl’s name?  It’s Arabic for “peace” (like Zulema).  Hmm, then again, maybe it’s because Gwen is a SoCal girl and loves the beach as in Zuma Beach? Or maybe he’s named after Zuma Rock that is located in the Niger State where the capital of Nigeria is !  Bob Marley’s middle name is Nesta, could it be that?!  So many guesses, most likely none of them are right though.

I find it a wee bit ironic that several of the celebrity moms such as Gwen, Christina, Posh, and Britney all of whom are know for their love of makeup and diva fashions had sons! No little girls to dress up and give makeup tips to.
