If you couldn’t catch Beyonce on her ‘I Am…’ tour this year or see Paul McCartney at Citi Field, you now have the chance to. The two singers have recently signed on to star in back to back specials on ABC this coming Thanksgiving. Both entertainers will appear in one hour specials with “candid conversations and exclusive concert footage” from recent performances. You can get to find out how Beyonce got her start in her music career and how Paul remembers the craze around the Beatles on Thanksgiving, November 26 at 9/8c on ABC. Now that is something to be thankful for.
Beyonce was at Patricia Field boutique on the Lower East Side of Manhattan this afternoon.
It seems as if she has some kind of new custom manicure. All of her fingers nails are black except the pinky is silver.
She recently spoke of how flattering she feels being idolized by President Obama’s daughters. She met Malia who is 10, and seven-year-old Sasha when she performed Etta James’ hit ‘At Last’ at the Presidential inauguration in January.
She told Vogue that Michelle Obama called her afterwards to tell her that her daughters were fans. Beyonce said:
“You have to feel fortunate to be one of the people whom parents don’t mind their children looking up to. The older I get, the more I think about the amount of influence I have on these young girls, and it’s scary sometimes.”
She has another fan in designer Thierry Mugler who designed her costumes for her upcoming tour. He recently said:
“I think of Beyonce as a modern-day warrior.”
Another fan is Cadillac Records director Darnell Martin who said:
“She was willing to do the work,” he adds, “to put on the weight and not be glamorous.” Beyonce played the part of soul singer Etta James in the film.
She is a great example for women. A warrior-princess who isn’t afraid to eat! Seriously though, I do admire her ambition, drive, and work ethic. She’s gifted, shares her talent, and is an excellent business woman as well.
Beyonce is holding a video contest in which you can shake it to her hit song, Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It). It’s typical UGC contest fare — video yourself doing the dance routine, win cash and have the video shown during her tour — but what is unusual, is the submission process. If you enter, put a stamp on it because you have to actually mail in your submission. There is no way to enter via uploads to YouTube (GOOG) or other online outlet!
From the official rules:
All Submission Materials should be shot in either QuickTime (.mov) or AVI format in either High Definition (1080p or 720p) or Standard Definition (720×480 pixels or 640×480 pixels) in a standard frame rate (23.98fps, 25fps, 29.97fps or 30fps) on a data DVD-ROM (not a playable DVD), on either DVD or mini DV. …
Entrants must include the full name and address of each individual appearing in the Submission Materials, a contact phone number and mail Submission Materials…
The contest is not mentioned on Beyonce’s official YouTube channel, or her record label (Columbia, a division of Sony (SNE).
Not sure why they aren’t offering some sort of online method for submitting videos but so far that’s how they want it done!
Good luck to those of you who do enter. The deadline is 6 March (09). B was recently named the richest star under 30 years old, and has an estimated 80 million dollars in the bank!
Here is the picture of Beyonce’s sis Solange. Down. Out of it. At the airport. She’s blaming it on too much Nyquil.
When Solange passed out at LAX last week from too much Nyquil, exhaustion or whatever, this is the picture of her ‘incident’ taken by a fellow airport passenger. I can breathe now that I’ve seen this picture from the tragic incident.
We can all thank cell phones for this famous moment forever captured into eternity. Some say she was faking it although really, if she was, she doesn’t even know how to look like she faints correctly!
Beyonce is seen here with an actor filming scenes from her latest music video on the beach yesterday in Mailbu, Calif.
It’s been reported that she will perform with High School Musical stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, Mamma Mia!’s Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper at this year’s Oscars.
Host Hugh Jackman and Beyonce have been rehearsing at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City.
Last week, Beyonce picked up the award for Outstanding Female Artist at the 2009 NAACP Image Awards.
Beyonce looked elegant wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier Paris black wool crepe dress with attached wood necklace at the Unforgettable Evening gala held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Tuesday (February 10) in Beverly Hills, Calif. Check out the crystalized pumps. Love them.
The fundraising event benefits the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund (EIF’s WCRF), raising much needed funds each year for innovative cancer research, and recognizes one remarkable individual for his or her unwavering commitment to the cause.
Beyonce sang at the event.
Here she is posing with singer Cheryl Crow who is a breast cancer survivor.
Beyonce will be singing the song to Barack and Michelle Obama’s first dance on inauguration night even though a Presidential Inaugural Committee spokeswoman had said:
“It is our hope that we can keep the song secret until the moment,”
Umm not anymore! Thanks to Beyonce we all now know what she’s going to be singing. She let the cat out of the bag, did someone forget to tell her it was supposed to be kept hush?
In a new statement, Beyonce reveals:
“I am so honored that I will be performing for President Obama and the First Lady. To sing At Last while they have their first dance is a dream come true.”
She adds:
“I could not be more honored and excited that they have asked me to be part of this moment in history.”
She’ll also be performing at the Neighborhood Ball airing on ABC along with her husband Jay-Z, along with, Alicia Keyes, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Stevie Wonder, Sting, and will.i.am.
Beyonce gave us way too much information on how she gets into character as her alter ego Sasha Fierce in issue #56 of V Magazine, which goes on sale this week. Here she is on the cover. Editor-in-chief Stephen Gan raved about her when he said this:
“Beyonce is a true icon of our time and V Magazine loves everything that she represents, including her new album which lands in about a week! Bruce Weber has captured her classic beauty as well as her fierce onstage persona.”
She had this to say about her alter ego:
“When I’m onstage,” says Beyonce of Sasha, “I’m aggressive and strong and not afraid of my sexuality. The tone of my voice gets different, and I’m fearless. I’m just a different person. It’s a way for me to differentiate what I do onstage from who I really am. It’s a way for me to not lose myself, to keep my life in perspective, because it’s really hard sometimes to stay on Earth when you’re a celebrity.”
She rambled on:
“It’s funny because right before the show I’m under the stage making sure my double-stick is in the right place, my pack is turned on, and my shoes have the stickies on the bottom so I don’t slip—all of these things that are so not glamorous. Then I take my last sip of water, clear my throat, close my eyes, and tell myself, You are fierce. You are fierce. You are fierce! And the second I take that first step and hear that crowd, I kind of transform. By the time I get up to the stage, I’m in the zone. I don’t feel anything anymore. Like if I’m in pain or if I’m nervous it kind of becomes, I don’t know how to describe it, I become that other thing. It’s like I’m ready for war.”
So she says, although I really do think that she is a bit over the top about this alter ego/publicity stunt character/charade. She is a very talented and hard working performer, but let’s face it, if people in general started going on about having alter egos, most would suggest they get evaluated by a shrink!
To kick off her new film, Cadillac Records, Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles made a special appearance at the 59th Street Bloomingdale’s in New York City today.
Anyone who bought a dress from their House of Deréon Dress collection received an autographed copy of the Cadillac Records soundtrack featuring Beyoncé (a month before the release of the album).
The Cadillac Records movie premiere is on Monday, December 1st with it hitting theatres on Friday, December 5th.
I’m not loving B’s hairstyle but the dress so suits her womanly curves. She looks fabulous.
“I am really proud that I am one of the artists that has the opportunity to be on magazine covers and to be in the movies, and I do think that I’m opening doors for more black women, just like Halle [Berry] and Diana Ross opened doors for me” says the birthday girl in an interview for October’s issue of British Marie Claire.
Her new album drops in November and she talked about the direction she wants to take with her career:
“I’m over being a pop star,” she says. “I don’t wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic. And I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. I feel like I’m highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records,” she adds. “And I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough.
She talked about having an onstage alter ego, “Sasha,” saying that there were:
“things I do when performing I would never do normally. As “Sasha,” I have out-of-body experiences. If I cut my leg, if I fall, I don’t even feel it. I’m so fearless, I’m not aware of my face or my body.”
ooooook… doesn’t she realize that having dual personalities is NOT normal?
She is back to eating healthy again because before she arrived for her Marie Claire shoot, her catering needs were:
“No chips, no candy, no desserts, no junk food, no fried food.”
Wonder if she is going to have a bite of birthday cake today?!
