Larry Birkhead has settled a long-running dispute over fees with celebrity attorney Debra Opri.
Birkhead sued Opri in dispute of legal fees she charged him after driving his defence in a paternity claim involving the daughter of Anna Nicole Smith who died in 2007.
Opri travelled with Birkhead to the Bahamas to make the brave claim, but he later fired her. When she sent her fee, which included a US$2,467.75 dinner, Birkhead disputed the amount and filed suit. The fiesty Opri countersued.
TMZ said it obtained legal documents which show the case has been dismissed with prejudice, amounting to an out-of-court settlement. The amount was not disclosed.
Birkhead’s paternity was proved and he has taken custody of the child, Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead, 3.
Tragic Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith was investigated by the FBI over a plot to kill her tycoon husband’s son, it has emerged.
Newly-released files show the famously curvy blonde, who was battling E Pierce Marshall over his late father’s oil fortune, was probed by investigators in 2000 and 2001 over an apparent murder-for-hire plot.
According to the FBI files, a revolver was recovered from Smith’s home during the investigation, as well as a three-and-a-half-inch knife.
Ultimately, prosecutors decided there was not enough evidence to charge Smith, who died in 2007 from a drugs overdose. E Pierce Marshall has also since died.
During an interview with agents on July 3, 2000, “Smith began crying and denied ever making such plans,” a report said.
“Smith adamantly denied ever contemplating such a crime,” an agent wrote.
Smith’s estate attorney has expressed surprise at the allegations, while representatives for Marshall’s estate would not comment.
Tragic Anna Nicole Smith’s companion Howard K Stern did not enter a plea as he appeared in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday – but his attorney later insisted: “He is innocent.”
Stern and doctor Khristine Eroshevich had their arraignment in the Anna Nicole drug case delayed until May 13 at the hearing.
But Stern’s attorney Steve Sadow read a statement outside the court saying: “He is innocent.
“Let me repeat that. He is innocent.”
Sadow told how Stern plans to fight charges that he unlawfully supplied late pin-up Anna Nicole with prescription medication.
He said Stern will put his faith in a jury to clear his name.
Sadow also insisted Anna Nicole was, “intelligent, strong and street-smart” and “in control of her own life”.
He said: “Anna Nicole made her own choices and decisions.
“No-one told her what to do.”
And Sadow claimed California Attorney General Jerry Brown should be “ashamed of himself” for “using” Anna Nicole to allegedly further his political career.
He said: “He doesn’t care about Anna Nicole Smith.”
Sadow blasted Brown for “maliciously and viciously” labeling Anna Nicole a drug addict.
Stern and Eroshevich are due back in court on May 13, the same arraignment date for the third party in the case, Anna Nicole’s former doctor Sandeep Kapoor.
You can always count on the efforts of US courts to bring back the dead to this world, that’s what is next in store for the late Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith who died of prescription drug overdose in 2007, her body was found at a hotel in Florida. The steps are being taken following the arrest of two doctors and the model’s ex-boyfriend.
It is being said that the doctor knowingly gave Anna huge amount of prescription drugs which were actually not needed at all.
How rubbish all of this seems now, people just gave the lady prescription drugs because she wanted it but then doctors in this profession have a responsibility and duty to take care of their patients. It not just about driving your client because she is filthy rich and cannot understand what harm these pills are causing her.
Here we go again, put their tails in jail and let that woman rest in peace. She sure didn’t have much peace alive. You know what it’s like a can of worms they will keeping spilling out until you do not close the lid once again.
The Medical Board of California said in April it was investigating Eroshevich, who, according to documents, authorized all 11 prescription medications found in Smith’s hotel room the day she died. The medical board also began an inquiry to determine if there was any misconduct by Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, who reportedly prescribed methadone to Smith. Methadone is a popular narcotic painkiller that is used as part of drug addiction detoxification and maintenance programs. Methadone overdoses can cause shallow breathing and dangerous changes in heartbeat. Methadone was one of the substances found in the system of Smith’s 20-year-old son, Daniel, who died in September 2006 of an apparently accidental drug overdose.”
Oh and just so you are clear these are the drugs she was perscribed.
Dilaudid, Lorazepam, Soma, Prixge, and Methadone
Seems like a hefty prescription, you think one of them would have been plenty. Seriously what doctor would allow someone to be totally drugged out all the time. I really think an investigation should be done. I know you are all probably sick of this soap opera but I thought I should keep you guys semi informed.
