Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt headed to the heart of the US to visit Missouri after spending Christmas in Namibia. This week the family visited Missouri, where Brad grew up and his parents still live. Angie and her children Zahara and Shiloh were spotted at a local coffee shop. Pitt, 47, and Jolie, 35, also joined his parents Jane and Bill to take a tour round the pediatric centre at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, which was renamed after Jane last year when the family made a $1 million donation. It is likely the couple will continue their holiday celebrations and see in the New Year with the actor’s family in Missouri.
Piers Morgan can rest assured that he has Jack Bauer’s support for his new TV show as actor Kiefer Sutherland told him, ‘Go kill it, Piers.’ Piers, soon to start his high-profile CNN gig replacing Larry King, was thrilled when Kiefer gave him the 24-like support when they saw each other at New York’s hippest restaurant, the Waverly Inn. The timing was particularly good, too, because Piers admits the Vogue creative director Grace Coddington had no idea who he was when he went over to say hi. According to the New York Post, an onlooker says the editor “looked blank” when Piers told her she was his “idol”, and Piers then told her how she had even had him profiled recently in her magazine. “Then she remembered, or pretended to,” Piers laughed. But he was thrilled when Kiefer then saved the day. “I didn’t mind because Kiefer Sutherland came over and said he’d come on the show. He gave me the Jack Bauer line, ‘Go kill it, Piers’,” Morgan recalled.
Courteney Cox reportedly saw in Christmas with best friend Jennifer Aniston. The former Friends stars made sure that Cox’s daughter Coco had a Christmas to remember, following her separation from husband David Arquette earlier this year, according to People. “Both Jen and Courteney are tired after a long year,” the insider said. “They celebrated Christmas with each other and just focused on making things special for Coco.” The estranged couple are believed to have spent some family time together over the holidays for the sake of Coco, six, but David is reportedly finding their split hard to take. “He’s just not handling this situation well,” another source added. “He’s really depressed. There was a moment when David thought they’d get back together but that doesn’t seem like it will happen now and it’s really tough on David.”
Jenny McCarthy has told how she uses New Year’s Eve as a chance to reflect rather than party. The former Playboy pin-up says she finds the night to be an anti-climax and so has come up with her own way of marking the occasion. She told Parade magazine: “I feel like there’s so much pressure at midnight to like be like, ‘Woo-hoo’! And then, when that second or minute is over, you’re disappointed. “So in the last few years, four minutes before midnight, I go in a different room where there isn’t a clock or anything. “I just take a friend, or my boyfriend at the time, and we just sit and talk about how great things are and what we’re looking forward to. It’s much more meaningful to me.”
Newlywed Hulk Hogan showed off his eye-watering back surgery wounds on his Twitter page. The former pro-wrestler, who wed blonde bombshell Jennifer McDaniel at his Florida home earlier this month, has been in hospital over Christmas following a 10-hour operation on his spine. He Tweeted three graphic photos, showing where surgeons had cut into his body. With the first photo, he wrote: “This was my Christmas present” and then posted a view of a puncture in his side. Hogan finished off with a third photo, writing: “This is the full view, I’m tired of being cut on.”
Big Love star Ginnifer Goodwin has told how she joined Weight Watchers at the age of nine. But the actress’s revelation has prompted the weight-loss company to confirm it no longer accepts children under 10 to its program. Ginnifer revealed she signed up for Weight Watchers as a nine-year-old 23 years ago. Weight Watchers has confirmed it changed its policy in 2003 and no longer enrolls children that young. A spokesman told celebrity website TMZ”under no circumstances whatsoever” can a child under the age of 10 enroll in their weight loss program as it is potentially dangerous. Paediatric Endocrinologist Dr. Suparna Jain told TMZ the Weight Watchers diet would not provide enough calcium and protein for the growing bodies of children under 10. Weight Watchers say: “Between the 10th and 17th birthday, a doctor’s permission note is needed and the doctor is responsible for recommending a healthy weight goal.”
According to reports, Simon Cowell has been selected to be knighted in 2011. The official list of knights-to-be comes out on December 31 and it looks like the snarky reality TV talent show judge’s fundraising efforts for Haiti helped get politicians to back him. When asked about his potential knighthood, Simon said “’Sir Simon’ has a nice ring to it.” I wonder what the next step could be for a knight. Four reels of Ben Stiller’s new movie Little Fockers have been stolen from a car in the UK. The movie is due for release on December 22 in cinemas but four reels of the new flick have been stolen from a car in Kent as they were being driven to cinemas. Police branded the thieves ‘amateurish’ as they left the more expensive items that were in the car and took the reels, which can only be seen on a cinema projector. A police source said to UK newspaper The Sun: “We couldn’t help but stifle a laugh when the courier told us the name of the movie.” Staff at the cinemas that were due to receive the reels then had to order more copies of the flick.
Jack Black is planning to drop 50lbs in 2011. The 41-year-old ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ star said that he plans to embark on a strict diet and fitness regime to fight the flab. He told Access Hollywood, “I’m gonna drop fitty. I’m gonna drop fitty pounds. “How many quarter-pounders with cheeses is that? I’m gonna drop 200 quarter-pounder with cheeses. (sic)” He added, “Push-ups, sit-ups, and a strict diet of raisins. That’s my plan.”
According to half-sister Sarah Owen, Lily Allen is not letting her recent miscarriage stop her from attempting to have another child and says that the British singer actually has plans to start trying for another baby with boyfriend Sam Cooper in 2011. Sarah said “New Year, new start. Losing the baby has totally devastated her, she’s still grieving. I didn’t realise the impact something like this could have on someone, and as a sister it’s been painful to watch. Lily won’t let this stop her, she is absolutely determined to be a mum. This is what she wants more than anything in the whole wide world, more than her singing career. It’s always been her dream. Lily hasn’t been in a great place, but she’s getting there. It’s been a long, hard road. She is in the country with her boyfriend and doing wholesome things. They’re going to start trying (for a baby) in the New Year.”
