Russell Crowe gave up cigarettes because of his kids

Gladiator star Russell Crowe has admitted he gave up cigarettes when his son saw him have a sneaky smoke.

The 46-year-old actor revealed why he gave up the habit during a press conference where it was announced he would narrate a live production of Ben Hur.

He said he had smoked most of his life before giving up and now has no plans to have another cigarette.

According to Australia’s The Daily Telegraph, he said: “Do the maths – I have been smoking for 36 years, I would continuously lie to myself about how much I smoked.

“[I was] smoking 40 on an easy day, but on a day when I would be up at 4am and still up at midnight, then it was 60-plus and it just got to the point where my body was telling me I had to stop.

“The reality break was that my kids never saw me smoke and Charlie is a little older at six and is in that phase where he is sneaking up on me all the time.

“I was in my office… and I thought I heard my door open and I looked around and couldn’t see anything, so I had my cigarette.

“Later on I leant over to put my cigarette out and he was lying between the couch and the table and he very definitely saw me having a smoke. And that was my very last one.”

Eva Longoria Parker: Guest judge on The Next Food Network Star

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker is set to appear as a guest judge on The Next Food Network Star, according to reports.

The 35-year-old actress will join Todd English and Bobby Flay in this Sunday’s episode, according to JustJared.com.

In the episode, the five remaining contestants cook their all-time favourite dishes, to which they have to add their least favourite ingredient, which is then delivered to them by their family members.

They also have to cook a dish inspired by an emotion.

The show airs in the US at 9pm on the Food Network.

Rachel Uchitel and model Janice Dickinson row in Rehab

Tiger Woods’ alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel and model Janice Dickinson have reportedly been clashing on Celebrity Rehab.

According to RadarOnline.com, the pair have been at each other’s throats constantly during the fourth series of the VH1 reality show.

A source told the celebrity website: “Rachel hates Janice and Janice hates Rachel.

“Janice thinks Rachel is an opportunist, and Rachel thinks Janice is a has-been.”

The insider added: “They haven’t got along since the beginning.

“They get into frequent, loud arguments and it’s getting disruptive for the others.”

Despite reports yesterday that Uchitel had quit the TV show after an intense therapy session with Dr Drew, producers eventually managed to persuade the club hostess that it was in her best interests to return.

Twilight star Kristin Stewart is ‘not likely’ to be starring in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Daniel Craig has just been cast as the male lead in the Hollywood adaptation of the Swedish crime novel.

But the main female character Lisbeth Salander is yet to be cast.

Kristin, 20, was rumoured to be in line to play the bisexual computer hacker in the movie.

But it looks as if her schedule with Twilight would clash with the film.

A source told Eonline.com: “Kristen Stewart is being considered (for the role), but she has not screen-tested.

“It looks like she may be out of the running because of Twilight scheduling conflicts.”

Pixie Lott performed last week at the iTunes Festival in London. During the concert, the artist sang two songs that will appear on the reedited version of her debut album “Turn It Up”. The song “Broken Arrow” is a ballad specially made for this new version of the album that will be released this year’s autumn. Recently Jason Derulo confirmed that his duet with Pixie to the song “Coming Home” will be her next single. The first album signed by Pixie Lott, “Turn It Up”, was released on the 14th of September 2009. The album release was followed by a promotion tour in Asia.

Jennifer Aniston wants to travel the world

Actress Jennifer Aniston said she wants to take a break from work so she can travel the world.

The 41-year-old, who was recently in London to launch her debut fragrance, said she would love to see more of the world but not just for her job.

She said to Britain’s Stylist magazine: “I travel a lot for work but I need to start travelling more for myself – it’s really important to me. You’d be shocked at my list of places I want to go.

“I want to go to India, Bali and I would love to go to Italy – I’ve never been to Florence or to Venice. I also want to go to Thailand and Fiji – a lot of places!”

Aniston added that she is always happy to take a trip to France as she revealed it is her top travel destination.

She said: “Paris, definitely. I love the people, the elegance, and the beauty of it. I stayed years ago at a little boutique hotel, I couldn’t tell you the name of it now, only that it wasn’t one of the big fancy ones.

“I’ve always liked those little quaint places that make you feel like you’re in someone’s apartment, rather than a hotel.”

Rumours are rife that George Clooney could finally be about to settle down and get married.

The self-confirmed batchelor is said to be ’smitten’ with Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, 31.

Friends told The Mirror that out of all the Hollywood hunk’s leading ladies, this one looks set to be the big one and rumours of marriage are said to be circulating around the resort of Lake Como, where the couple are holidaying.

The gossip reached fever-pitch when staff were spotted erecting a wedding-like gazebo in the grounds of the Oceans’s Eleven star’s Â£10million villa.

Elisabetta was recently quoted as saying: “Thanks to him, I have found serenity. There’s a change within me and it’s thanks to the person at my side.”

Asked to describe her best qualities, model and actress Elisabetta said: “I am a tomboy. I am not the sort of girl who dreams of becoming a mother but I do believe in matrimony.”

Angelina Jolie doesn’t want kids to grow up

Salt actress Angelina Jolie has said she is ‘glad’ she has a few more years before her kids start dating and driving.

The 35-year-old Oscar-winner is mum to six young kids with partner Brad Pitt but said she isn’t looking forward to them growing up.

Jolie is mum to Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four, and twins Knox and Vivienne, two.

She said to PEOPLE TV: “I’m glad I have a few more years. I’m not ready for them driving, dating. I’m not ready for any of it.”

Although she does have a plan for how she will handle them as they get older.

She said: “Our plan is to just have a really, really great relationship with our children, so when they hit that time that they don’t want to talk to us, we’ve instilled some good values already, because it will be too late as they’re walking out the door.”
