Valentine’s Day star Julia Roberts has been named as the new face of Lancome.
The 42-year-old mum was recently unveiled as the new global ambassador for the L’Oreal brand.
Talking about her new responsibilities, she told WWD: “I think I have to stand up straighter and wash my face more.
“It’s kind of like every girl’s dream, really.
“To be 42 and have three kids and be a working mom, it’s a great moment to be asked to do this and to be able to do it. I think it says a lot about Lancome and what they stand for.”
Her first ad was shot for Lancome by photographer Mario Testino and will appear in magazines later this year.
Tyler Perry showed off his DIY skills on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on US TV Sunday night.
The actor/producer helped rebuild a home of a couple who assists underprivileged children in a new episode that pulled at the heart strings.
The lucky beneficiaries of the makeover, the Tripp family, run The Fishing School, a youth development organisation that offers after school and summer programs for kids in Washington DC.
A science room, art room, technology spaces, classrooms and a kitchen were all newly installed in the home for the benefit of the kids who go there, and the final results moved the Tripp family and The Fishing School pioneer Mr Lewis to tears in emotional scenes.
Perry, 40, was so moved by Mr Lewis and the mission of the Fishing School that he announced on the show that he was going to form a foundation to support the school.
Perry, who has acting, directing, screenwriting, producer and author credits to his name, has starred in films such as Meet The Browns, Madea Goes To Jail and Star Trek.
Perry’s films are said to have earned him nearly $400million worldwide.
Action star Vinnie Jones has said even Brad Pitt has had ’stinkers’ on his CV over the years.
The 45-year-old, who recently took part in UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother, worked with Pitt on Guy Ritchie’s movie Snatch.
Jones, who has appeared in more than 50 movies over the years, was asked if he would delete any movies from his CV.
He said: “Quite a few. Even if you look at Brad’s CV, there are some stinkers on that. I’m too embarrassed to name mine.”
Jones also spoke about the highlights of his career and said: “I always like the premieres. And getting friendly with Brad on the set of Snatch – that film was a highlight.”
Alec Baldwin has reportedly blamed ex-wife Kim Basinger for him being rushed to hospital in the middle of the night.
The 30 Rock star was admitted after his 14-year-old daughter Ireland called paramedics saying the star was in an ‘unresponsive’ state.
An hour later, Baldwin was released from Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital and returned to work on the set of the comedy series 30 Rock.
Now sources close to the 51-year-old actor say the incident was the result of ex-wife Kim Basinger.
Sources said Baldwin first got into a fight with Ireland over the phone at around midnight – and made the girl nervous when he allegedly told her: “I’m tired of this. I’m going to take some pills. I’m going to end this.”
He then hung up. Ireland tried calling her dad back a short time later, but he didn’t pick up the phone. Panicked, she called police. Sources said the call came in as a “possible alcohol or drug overdose.” It later emerged that Baldwin had taken an Ambien sleeping pill.
Baldwin “was heard complaining that his daughter was put up to do this by Kim Basinger to embarrass him”.
Oprah Winfrey has issued her employees with a novel no-phone rule to prevent the use of mobile phones while driving. But the move has met with a disgruntled reaction. Sources told RadarOnline.com exclusively: “Some were complaining that they had just purchased hands-free devices and now they can’t use them. They’re worried this will hurt them from doing their jobs. Some employees talk on the phone while driving because they are under deadlines and their jobs are not nine-to-five.”
The employees were required to sign a pledge that was tagged the “no phone zone pledge”. The move followed a program on a young couple who lost their daughter in a mobile phone-related car accident.
Winfrey, however, did not force the employees to sign. But according to one insider, who said many employees signed but soon broke the pledge, “It was pretty clear to everyone that it would not be good to resist signing it. You don’t mess with Oprah.”
The pledge reads:”I pledge to make my car a No Phone Zone. Beginning right now, I will do my part to help put an end to distracted driving by not texting or using my phone while I am driving. I will ask other drivers I know to do the same. I pledge to make a difference.”
Khloe Kardashian has revealed she has a crush on President Barack Obama after recently meeting him at the White House.
The 25-year-old got to meet the US President when the LA Lakers and their wives and girlfriends were invited to the White House. Kardashian is married to Lakers’ star Lamar Odom.
She wrote on her blog: “I was lucky enough to tag along LOL. Never did I EVER think I would be in the same room as the President, let alone get to shake his hand.
“I was pretty nervous but I think I held it together pretty well. President Obama was so sweet and charming… I might have had a slight crush on him LOL!”
The singer recently explained his tearful burst last week saying that he had to face his worst nightmare due to the questions asked. This is what Peter Andre said on the matter: “Many people jumped to the wrong conclusion and thought I was crying because Katie has married Alex, but nothing could be further from the truth. I was crying because after showing me some footage of Dwight Yorke saying how disrespectful it was of me to want to adopt Harvey, Kay asked me how I’d feel if Alex wanted to adopt my children. I really wasn’t expecting her to go down this route and I admit it completely threw me. My kids are my life and the thought of someone taking them away from me is my worst nightmare. She really hit a raw nerve and I just lost my composure.” Well Peter Andre probably needn’t worry about that since Katie Price and Alex Reid seem to already be done. And besides, what judges in their right minds would let a couple like that adopt children.
If you thought that the great music mogul didn’t have a heart… you might have been right, but still, Simon Cowell is trying to show everyone that it’s not like that. It seems he is getting quite serious with make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy as a source relates: “Simon is ready to let everyone know. Things between them are moving along very nicely indeed. Their relationship has been conducted under a cloak of secrecy but the situation has now changed.” If there’s anybody that’s an expert at secrecy, then it’s Simon Cowell. Just think how long he has been going out with his new love interest. Maybe she’ll get special privileges now, working with him on the American version of the X Factor and so on.
Sandra Bullock poked fun at US TV host David Letterman’s adultery during an appearance on his chat show.
It all started when Letterman riled The Blind Side actress by showing Bullock and the audience a picture of her planting a kiss on Meryl Streep after the pair tied for the ‘Best Actress’ win at the Critics’ choice Movie Awards last month.
“We gave the audience what they really wanted,” Bullock said, defending herself.
Letterman then joked: “I guess that what you kids do up in Hollywood, prompting Bullock to retort: “And I suppose you’ve never kissed a woman before, Dave, right?”
Letterman took the gag on the chin as the audience cheered Bullock on.
Lost star Matthew Fox has said he is thrilled that the show is finally finishing.
Fox, 43, has played the role of Dr Jack Shephard since the programme started in 2004 and said it will be a nice change to try something different.
He said to UK’s Live magazine: “I want a new life – I am thrilled Lost is finally over. I’ve spent five years as Dr Jack Shephard. It’s been a crazy experience but I want more.
“I want to do films, I want to do theatre, I want to be different people. It’s made my name and made me famous all over the world.
“I’ve won awards for it and it’s possibly the best TV series that has ever been made, but nothing beats leaping back into the unknown. Filming the very last show was a mix of sadness and pure exhilaration for me.”
