It looks like she changed her mind in a hurry. After showing her undying appreciation for all that Susan Boyle has accomplished in such a short time, Elaine Paige went ahead and continued her support for the Scottish star saying: “I am a huge supporter of Susan Boyle and admire what she has achieved; she has handled the extraordinary situation of being catapulted to worldwide stardom with tremendous strength, charm and dignity. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her on the TV special we recorded together only last month.” It is strange how not even the weather seems to change as fast as Ellen Paige’s opinions do. Oh well, again, what would Susan Boyle’s career be without the appreciation of someone as experienced as Elaine Paige.

Michael Lohan has been arrested for alleged violation of a restraining order obtained by an ex-girlfriend, Erin Muller.

Lohan was most recently reported making plans to move to the West Coast with his new girlfriend, Kate Major. But he was alleged to have tried to make contact with Muller by telephoning her at her job last week.

Lohan, father of Lindsay, was arrested by Nassau County Police and booked for criminal contempt. He is due in court on February 25th.

Lohan for his part denies the allegation. A source says Lohan claims that Muller has an upcoming arrest pending.

Lohan reportedly said: “Erin lied and pressed charges. She is being arrested again in NY City and Nassau County 2nd Precinct. Erin said I called her but she lied because she heard I was in Costa Rica instead.

“I have proof and she doesn’t. Her lawyer asked for money to drop the charges. How is it that I have proof and she doesn’t?”

Environmentally-friendly stars led by Leonardo DiCaprio are calling for America to use cleaner energy in a new internet video campaign.

The Titanic actor joins Edward Norton, Forest Whitaker, Chace Crawford, Justin Long, Jason Bateman, Felicity Huffman and Emmy Rossum in the This Is Our Moment video for the NRDC Action Fund.

They are urging the US government to pass the first-ever climate and clean energy bill to cut carbon pollution and use alternative sources of energy.

The stars say it will create jobs for Americans and stop the US from buying oil from countries “that don’t share our values and kill our soldiers”.

NRDC trustee DiCaprio said: “This is our moment – our moment to fight for a cleaner and more secure future.

“The time is now for people across the country to stand up and have their voices heard.”

He added: “We must call on the Senate to act on this historic opportunity.”

The This Is Our Moment video campaign allows Americans to upload their own videos to support the campaign and send emails directly to their MPs.

It isn’t really going to do anybody much good if Simon Cowell can’t deliver his blockbuster single to the masses, now is it? So the Earl of Exigency has found the perfect solution for this: his masterpiece single will be performed at the BRITs. This is what a source related about Simon Cowell’s master plan: “A special production meeting was called to reconsider the running order to include the song. It’s something that has never happened before. But the events in Haiti have made everybody sit up and take notice.” Oh of course, it’s Haiti’s predicament that’s speeding Simon Cowell’s plan into motion, not the promise of ratings or any other silly considerations like that. After all, the BRITs is a people’s show.

Ben Affleck gets inside the skin of an unemployed man in The Company Men, a film debuting at the Sundance Film Festival.

Affleck’s character loses all his material wealth, including his house, Porsche and perks as a highly paid sales executive and is forced to move in with his parents.

Affleck noted: “It’s sort of an existential crisis, and that’s almost as bad as sort of, ‘All right, well where’s my money going to come from?’ This sort of shame and difficulty in saying, ‘Well, what am I? Well, I’m not really this. I can’t really say I’m X if I’m not making money at it.”‘

Filmmakers for The Company Men say it picks up where the George Clooney recessionary hit, Up In The Air, leaves off.

Screenwriter for the movie, John Wells, said: “I tell people who ask me about it that if you were interested in those people that Jason Reitman [director of Up In The Air] interviewed and put into the film who really lost their jobs, that this movie begins as they walk out of that room. This movie is really about what happened to those people.”

Wells’s previous accolades include ER and The West Wing. He said the movie is taken from the experience his sister’s husband had when he lost a comfortable executive job.

The movie co-stars Rosemarie DeWitt, as Affleck’s wife, Tommy Lee Jones as a top corporate executive and Kevin Costner as Affleck’s blue-collar brother-in-law.

Jones said: “The film invites us to ask ourselves for a moment how big a deal it is to go from a job that pays $160,000 a year to a job that pays $60,000 a year. How big a deal is it to give up your Porsche? I don’t think there’s a single citizen in Haiti that wouldn’t be happy to go to a job that pays $60,000 a year, or $6000 a year. On the scale of things, this movie I think invites us to consider our materialism and the emotional and spiritual stakes that we put into it, and considers to some degree that that might be mistaken.”

And he won’t be doing it alone! The singer has reportedly gotten involved in Simon Cowell’s charitable single project and he’s going to be participating on the material together with his old band mates from Take That. This is what Robbie Williams said about his participation on the single: “I’m very honored to be asked to contribute to the single. We can all do something to help the people of Haiti – and I urge everyone to do what they can.” Well, certainly Robbie Williams can do more than just sing, his buddies at Take That would probably agree. After all, his successful career must have yielded some measurable outcome.

Actress Sandra Bullock was cut down to size as she presented a Life Achievement Award to her veteran Proposal co-star Betty White at the SAGs.

The movie beauty had to stoop down to almost half her height to reach the microphone after it was adjusted ready for 88-year-old Betty to make her acceptance speech.

And Sandra was cut down again by the sprightly former Golden Girls star as Betty enjoyed a joke at her expense.

She told the star-packed audience: “She’s such a wonderful one.

“Isn’t it heartening to see how far a girl as plain as she is can go?”

Sandra had appeared to shed a tear as much-loved Betty received a standing ovation on her way to the stage.

She had also teased Betty during her introduction, joking she finds the evergreen actress “annoying” because “she makes me feel like a slacker”.

Naomi Watts, 41, will continue her run in the thriller genre when she stars opposite Daniel Craig in Dream House.

Watts will play a role in the eerie tale of a family that learns of a brutal crime committed against the former residents of their idyllic new home in smalltown Connecticut.

Jim Sheridan will direct the Morgan Creek/Universal project in pre-production and slated for a 2011 release. Craig plays the pater familias, who is disturbed to learn that a previous family living there was apparently slaughtered by the father – who survived.

Watts, whose partner is actor Liev Schreiber, is currently at the Sundance film festival in Utah for Mother And Child, directed by Rodrigo Garcia. The couple have two sons.

Watts shot to fame with David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, which was this month named the top film of the decade by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

Julianna Margulies won the best actress laurel at the Screen Actors Guild Awards [SAGs] in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The award recognised the former ER star for her work on The Good Wife.

Margulies thanked co-stars and writers on the show before she said: “My mother and father call me after every single episode. They’ve been so supportive of me and have such interest in my life and every role I take – except for Snakes On A Plane. They weren’t so proud of that one, but they are proud of this one.”

In The Good Wife she plays Alicia Florrick, the loyal wife of a politician played by Chris Noth of Sex and The City fame. Noth’s character is exposed in a sex and corruption scandal.

Margulies’ gritty role sees her supporting her children while Noth goes to jail. Her six-year role in ER as an embattled and unforgettable nurse was no laughing matter, either.

The elegant 43-year-old brunette said: “I’m not someone who has to go home and slit my wrists after a day’s work because my character did. I love acting because I also love to put on someone else’s shoes and feel what they are feeling. But you have to be able to separate. It’s one of the reasons I don’t live with an actor – life is hard enough.”
