New Moon star Peter Facinelli has admitted that he argues with wife Jennie Garth every year on whether to have a real or fake tree.

The 36-year-old star, who plays vampire Dr Carlisle Cullen in the hit Twilight Saga, said he has to come to an agreement with wife Jennie, 37, over the tree dispute.

He said: “My wife wants to do the fake tree because it’s easy, but I am so anti-fake trees.

“In one room, we do a nice fake tree, and in the other room, I get to have my tree with all the pine needles falling all over the place.”

He added that the real reason he likes to get a real tree for Christmas is that it means he gets to spend time with Jennie and their daughters Luca, 12, Lola, seven, and Fiona, three.

He said: “What’s fun is that I get to go and pick out the tree with the kids, and then it becomes an experience. Sometimes, I’ll hide behind the tree. I used to pretend I was the talking tree.

“The kids loved it. I would be like: ‘Hey, pick me – I am the best Christmas tree!’”
