Megan Fox and her glorious body will not be adorning the screens of Australian cinemas with the much-publicised Jennifer’s Body.

Twentieth Century Fox has denied the movie, adapted from a screenplay by Diablo Cody, an Australian release. The move comes despite the success of Fox’s Transformers 2 in Australia, where it grossed $A12.9 million in one weekend.

National publicity manager Emma Harvey said the decision arose from the movie’s failure to do well in the US. It is said to have brought in takings that barely cover its $A16 million production cost.

Harvey was not critical of the film, which has been hyped for its violence, lesbian kissing scene and star-wattage cast. She said:”Hopefully you’ll get to see it on DVD or something. It really is a great film.”

The movie’s British release will proceed this weekend as planned.
