Cameron Diaz paid an emotional tribute to her father as she received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

The actress – whose father Emilio Diaz passed away suddenly from pneumonia at 58 last April – dedicated her success to ‘the eternal love my mom and dad shared’.

Diaz, 36, said: “It was what has given me the strength and courage to live this extraordinary life and it is what powers the light that burns inside of me, bright enough for me to be honoured today with this star on the Walk of Fame.”

Guests at the unveiling ceremony in front of the Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre included Tom Cruise who starred with Diaz in Vanilla Sky, Katie Holmes and Lucy Liu.

Diaz’s latest film My Sister’s Keeper has its premiere on Friday in the U.S.

Nick Cassavetes, who directed Diaz in My Sister’s Keeper spoke, calling Diaz the perfect Hollywood actress: “If you were to build a Hollywood actress, you should look at Cameron Diaz.”

“She’s beautiful, talented, she can make you laugh. But more importantly, she shows up prepared, she knows what she’s doing, she works hard and even more than that, she’s kind and she takes time with every single person on the film crew.”

Over her career Diaz has received four Golden Globe nominations for her performances in There’s Something About Mary, Being John Malkovich, Vanilla Sky and Gangs of New York.
